Selectable component video output (progressive scan for HD-compatible TVs, interlaced for regular TVs). Optical and coaxial digital outputs for Dolby Digital/DTS/PCM.
1 set of A/V outputs (composite, S-video, and 480i/480p component video). Audio signal-to-noise ratio 100 dB.
17-1/8"W x 3-5/8"H x 18-1/4D. Video D/A Converter: This player uses an advanced 54MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog converter. This high-bit, high sampling D/A converter helps to reduce digital artifacts to give you a better picture.
Audio D/A Converter: This player features 192kHz/24-bit audio digital-to-analog converters. Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC): The DV-CP702 uses Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry to remove stray pulse noise from the digital signal for a smoother, richer analog output signal.
"Direct Digital Path": "Direct Digital Path" signal routing provides a shorter, cleaner path from the signal processing PC board to the digital outputs than typically found on other players. This direct signal path routing is used to prevent corruption of the signal by noise from the ICs and power supply. Progressive Scan Output: Progressive-scan video has less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than the traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a superior picture.
To take advantage of this feature, you must have a television with component video inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode. The component outputs on this unit can be set to pass either progressive or interlaced video. MP3/WMA Playback: This unit will play MP3/WMA files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 2 format. The following files are supported: MP3 constant bit-rate files with a compression rate from 32-384 kbps, MP3 variable bit-rate files with a compression rate from 64-384 kbps, and WMA constant and variable bit-rate files with a compression rate from 16-192 kbps. This unit is not compatible with multi-session discs. If you try to play a multi-session disc, only the first session will be played. Each disc can have a maximum of 999 folders and 672 files per folder. JPEG Disc Playback: This unit will play JPEG files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 2 format. Only baseline JPEG files with the following brightness/color difference ratios are supported: 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:1:1. Each file must be less than 5MB in size. All JPEG files on a disc can be played back individually or in a slide show.
Playback Modes: The DV-CP702 features the following playback modes. Fast Forward/Reverse: There are 5 fast forward and 5 fast reverse speeds for DVDs and 3 for Video CDs, audio CDs, and MP3/WMA discs. Slow Motion: There are 4 slow motion speeds for DVDs and 3 for Video CDs. Backward slow motion is only possible with DVDs. Time Search: You can locate a specific point on the currently playing DVD title, Video CD or audio CD track by entering the time. Repeat Playback: Depending upon the type of disc, you can repeat the following. DVD: Chapter, Title, 1 Disc or All Discs. Video CD: 1 Disc or All Discs. Audio CD: Track, 1 Disc or All Discs. Random Playback: Depending upon the type of disc, you can randomly play the following. DVD: Title, 1 Disc or All Discs. Video CD/Audio CD: 1 Disc or All Discs. MP3/WMA: Folder, 1 Disc or All Discs (files in subfolders are not played).
Memory Playback: You can create your own memory list of up to 32 titles, chapters, or tracks. Note: You can repeat the memory list, but cannot perform random play. Chain Mode: With the Chain mode function you can consecutively play all discs, all DVD-Video discs and Video CDs, or all audio CDs and MP3/WMA discs as if they were one big disc.
Resume Function: The Resume function allows you to resume playback of a disc from the point where you last stopped. The stopping point is cleared when the Stop button is pressed more than once, another disc is selected, or the disc tray is opened.
Last Memory Function: If you want to begin playback at a certain point, but the power will be turned off or the DVD or Video CD will be removed from the player, use the Last Memory function to specify a starting point on the disc next time you play it. Points on up to 6 DVDs or VCDs can be stored in memory. Digital Out Settings: You can specify in the Setup menu how the unit will output digital audio signals depending upon the capability of the connected equipment. Dolby Digital Out: You can choose to output Dolby Digital audio as it is (if your A/V component has a Dolby Digital decoder) or downmix it to 2-channel PCM.
Linear PCM Out: You can choose to output digital audio at 96kHz (if your A/V component can accept the higher sampling rate) or downsample it to 48kHz. Note: In some cases, even if you select "downsample off, " digital audio from some discs will automatically downsampled to 48kHz or may not be output from the digital output at all.
MPEG Out: You can configure the unit to output MPEG digital audio as it is (if your A/V component has an MPEG decoder), or downmix it and output it as PCM digital audio. Digital Out: You can turn on or off the coaxial and optical digital outputs without any effect on the analog outputs.
Display Dimmer: The display illumination can be set to dim, dimmer, disc tray light off, or normal brightness.
